Decentering Settler Practices In Academic Repositories
This paper reflects my professional philosophy within the library and information profession and archives, while touching on the evolving core values within the greater library and information social, cultural, ethical community. This paper addresses ways academic archives through traditional archival approaches can decenter settler perspectives and structural racism in their collections. In this I discuss tangible ways libraries, museums, and archives connect to marginalized communities, are rethinking core values and can assist with this is bias-replacement strategies.
